A trip to Melrose Vintage...and other cool places!

Yesterday we took a little trip to downtown Phoenix area to check out some vintage shops Carrie had on her radar. Our Arizona weather was gorgeous (75° or 24c), and we had our friend Janae along for the ride. What a perfect combination! Our first stop was a boutique called Melrose Vintage - a place Carrie and I have been wanting to go to for a couple of years now.
From the minute we walked through the door I was in heaven. I had to take a couple of deep breaths to calm myself down, telling myself to take it easy...this isn't a race...we have plenty of time. I did end up walking through the store a few times, just taking it all in.You can see there was a mix of home decor, vintage finds, and on the right is a stack of some yummy scrapbook paper. What more could a girl ask for? {ok...Robert Downey, Jr. as a tour guide? ...but I digress...} I seriously want that gigantic frame - what a great idea for a room divider!

I was like a kid in a candy store! We asked one of the owners right away if it was ok that we took some pictures and she graciously agreed.
One of my favorite things about Melrose Vintage was all of the awesome light fixtures and pretty chandeliers all over the place.
I loved the daisies on this one and laughed to myself when I thought of the look on Doug's face if I brought this beauty home!

And this one with the beautiful roses:
There were a few different rooms at Melrose Vintage. This one was filled with scrapbook goodies and more vintage finds:
The use of windows and frames and grates as room dividers was so lovely. This one was suspended from the ceiling...so awesome...

And this sweet room was full of baby stuff, just so adorable...

And there was a backyard too! Here's a photo of Janae and me poking around outside in the rusty yummy stuff..
We did end up buying a few things, and I talked myself out of a bunch of stuff {you're welcome, Doug} but I really want to go back. See that candelabra on the right in the photo above? Yeah. I want that.

After we left the beauty of Melrose Vintage we took a little walk and looked in a few other vintage and antique shops. We had lunch at a fun place called "Two Hippies" and then piled in the car to head to our next destination.

We spent some time in an adorable shop called "Frances" and then spent a lot of time in this candy store called "Smeeks." There was so much to see in this place, and I ended up buying some little odds and ends to include in my niece's birthday package that I'll be mailing next week.
Fun stuff. And a photo booth! We took a few strips of photos, but none were as cute as this photo that Janae took of us. Super fun day!!!
When we left this place to head for our next destination we were a bit distracted by the walls of graffiti murals in the downtown area. Perfect photo locations for three girls with cameras on a beautiful day. I'll have a post later in the week with some of our campy shots, but for now you can enjoy all the ones in this post.
.
Thanks for looking.

I wanna go!!! Of course, you'd have to help me sort things out--you know how overwhelmed I get! I love that you girls were able to get out and have such a great time! I am so envious of your weather, however, we went to Pleasanton to an RV show and it was pretty close to 70 by mid-afternoon. Then we came back over Altamont Pass into fog and cold!

Love that daisy light and also love you!!! xo

What a great place. I would have had a hard time not buying everything I liked. I could spend hours there. It looks like you had a great day out just as I did.

What fun!!!! I would love to spend some time browsing around in these places. Most of all, I'd like a nice day to do it. It's five degrees below zero here this morning. Just hunkering down inside for most of the day!

Well, how much did I enjoy those photos?! We just don't have shops like that here, and they really are just my kind of thing. Very cute mum/daughter shot too.

Looks super fun. My heart was pitter-pattering at those light fixtures, so special and unique.

wv: addlime. As in, add lime to your iced tea and pull up a chair.

Oh Melrose Vintage looks heavenly, I would like to live in there for a few weeks I think ;)I love the look of it, although I just cant make that look happen in my home, my home is all clean lines and uncluttered, yet my little heart skips a beat at this vintage stuff everytime I see it, I just dont think I could realistically live with it. Looks like you had a wonderful time though, such fun!

Deb - I love Melrose! It is close to where I work so I am able to go a few times a year. I have to be careful in there, though!
