In May 2010, Doug and I took my work friends to our northern property for a weekend camping trip. During the weekend I took a lot of photos with the intent to create a mini-book for my boss and his family as a Christmas gift. {Always thinking ahead...}
.
Back in September 2010 I showed the beginning stages of this book here. I didn't give much detail at that time {because it was a gift} but now that the holiday is past us and the gift has been given, I can share it with you on my blog! :o)
The pages are constructed from corrugated
cardboard folded in an accordion fashion,
with some pages made from kraft cardstock.

I used simple paper punches, rubber stamps,
bits of lace and ribbon, and buttons {of course}.
Once my pages were complete, I sewed a simple cover
out of canvas and stamped it with a rubber stamp,
then hand stitched the pages to create a binding to
hold it all together.

This turned out so great! What is not to love?!?! Dr. Dave and his family now are the proud owners of a Paper Turtle original!
Have a great weekend, Sweetie! xo
I love mini-books - I think they're my favourite things to create - so tactile. Yours looks amazing and the cover is so very pretty!
I'm not a camper unless it involves a place with room service... but your mini album is awesome! What a great gift. Mini albums are my favorite projects!
deb, that is absolutely gorgeous. i love it. the cover is beautiful. i need to learn to sew.
This is gorgeous! I am sure they loved it and will treasure it for years!
I love everything about this mini book . . . the colors, the textures, the images, everything!!!
I think corrugated paper is way underutilized.
Thanks for sharing,
rind
I love all the texture too and I especially love how you used the textures to photograph the project!
Oh, I so love this! Such a thoughtful and kind gift.
No wonder they loved it,Deb....it is so gorgeous.I love how you've used the corrugated card....there's such a natural, earthy feel to the whole project...and mini books are always one of my favourite things.
I'm afraid camping is not though...or certainly not in this country!!
What a wonderful gift to give someone. I know my holiday albums are among my favourites because they bring back the memories and I'm sure that's how your boss and his family will feel. I love the whole "feel" of the book Deb, you did a great job! xx
This is gorgeous deb, you have made corrugated card very beautiful indeed! :)
Gorgeous and so inventive - as always xxx
a lovely album to remember a fun trip!
ps, the flower stamp on the front cover is very cool, can you share where you got it from, please?
Deb this is absolutely lovely- I would be thrilled to receive something like this x
:o) For Cate, and anyone else who is interested:
The stamp I used on the cover and throughout the book is a Donna Downey stamp that I purchased when I took her class last year. I've definitely got my money's worth out of it as I use it on a lot of different projects.
This is beautiful! I am not surprised you want to do it all over again! Enjoy your crop with Carrie and your friends at the end of the month :)
This is beautiful, no wonder the recipient was thrilled!
Beautiful, beautiful natural look - and again so deliciously photographed. It's another stunner Deb!
This album is gorgeous Deb! Love the canvas cover and the stamp you used, is it a Donna Downey stamp? I also love how you made the pages, very apt for a camping trip.
Double whammy - the plasure of a trip with you, and the delight of a keepsake to remember it! It's beautiful, Deb xx
Love this book Deb!! Great job :)
