Boy gift turns girl gift (sort of...)

One of the things my sweet husband received as a Christmas gift from his brother was a trail camera. Do you know about these things? Hunters place these motion-sensor cameras in remote locations and leave them for periods of time. The basic idea is that when the hunter goes back to that location and uploads the photos from the camera, he can see what types of animals have been in that area. The camera has a feature that stamps the date, time, and temperature at the time the photo was taken. This way the hunter knows the time of day that particular animal is likely to be in that area. .
.
Anyway, as far as this camera goes, I can't remember the last time I've seen Doug so excited about a gizmo {although, the coffee cup that plugs into a car cigarette lighter was pretty high up there}. This trail camera was the focus of his attention for quite some time on Christmas day. He was so excited telling me all about the cool features - all the while I was rolling my eyes and handing out some good natured ribbing. Boys are silly.
.
It wasn't until we had the bright idea to test the camera by placing it in a busy pathway in our house that I actually saw the potential. We set the camera at the end of our couch and called the cats. Here kitty, kitty, kitty... {crickets...crickets...} Nothing...
,
We gave up and went about our business. Later that evening we uploaded the photos and had a good laugh, thanks to our pets. They are so effortlessly entertaining to us!
We finally captured Whiskers in all his glory. {Fancy walked around the other end of the couch as she passed through. I'm telling you, she's camera shy!}
And then Carrie and her dog, Marcus arrived. I decided to use this photo rather than the one that really accentuates his dog parts {and there were at least six other photos capturing his tail on one side of the photo...}:

We did have ourselves a good laugh, at our pet's expense - kind of a guilty pleasure Candid-Camera-kind-of-funny.

So, I'll admit that the trail camera is a fun toy.
I get it, Doug. You win {this time}.

PS: Thanks, Michael, for the cool gift! I plan to scrapbook these photos.

Haha! When you e-mailed me these pictures last night it totally cracked me up. I love it!

And I lol'ed at the part about Doug's coffee cup. Who'da thunk it would be such a hit?!

What a fun idea to use the camera like this. My husband actually sets his camera up on a tripod and all through Christmas day takes a photo of our tree. It is a time lapse record of the presents dwindling down until there are none left. Glad you had a merry Christmas!

Ooooh!! I think this could just be the latest Scrapbooking Gadget for 2011.. Quick, set up a shop selling them - but they will need to be pink and come in fancy packages!
Looks like a lot of fun, Deb!

I've never heard of such a thing, but I think it sounds like a lot of fun. No wonder Doug was fascinated.
