What a difference a day makes.

Warning: This post is photo heavy.
Let's just blame it on this class I'm taking.
One of the prompts this week was to take photos of flowers at different times of the day to see the difference in lighting. The photo above was taken yesterday morning, around 6:00 a.m. with the morning sun shining directly on the flower.
And the next photo was taken this afternoon around 4:00 with an overcast sky...{note that the rose bud opened within the past 24 hours} :o)
Anyway! Those aren't really the part of this assignment I wanted to share with you... Check out these oleander flowers:
Oleander bushes are popular in the Southwest and they grow like crazy here. We have four of them at our house, all with pretty pink blooms. The following photos were taken yesterday in the direct morning sunlight.

{Did you know that oleanders are poisonous if eaten,
and are highly flammable?}
I couldn't resist cropping the photo above to get a closer look at this blossom. I'd like to use this picture for a baby girl card or something...

~sigh~
Now this afternoon there are lots of clouds in the sky, so I headed out to the same oleander bush and snapped a few pictures. When I uploaded them I felt like I'd hit the jackpot! I love the color and clarity of these photos.
I can definitely see why overcast days are best for photography.

I was going to add more photos but these all started looking the same to me! I'm off to catch up on a few other prompts from this past week.
Wishing each of you a fabulous weekend!
xo

Beautiful Deb! I love the ultra soft close up. We used to call oleanders "freeway flowers" because they plant them along freeways in Los Angeles.

Beautiful Deb! You did a great job on these! Can't wait to see what else you have in store. Do you like the class?
I did know that Oleander was poisonous. When we were in Charleston, a guide told us that women who were "displeased" with the hubby would make a "special tea" with it, killing them with the symptoms mimicking a heart attack. He said back in the old days, they couldn't detect the poison. Then he told us that women were always disappointed to hear that they can detect it now. Oops!

See, there is overcast and then there is pouring with rain which is what we have at the minute! You've done a beautiful job with your flower photos Deb, they are so bright and clear.

These photos are beautiful Deb! I've been inspired looking at everyones photos for the class and have just signed up. I know it'll take me a while to get to it but it'll be lovely to have the notes to go through when I've got the chance. Hope you're having a great weekend :)

The close up picture is beautiful. My sister has oleanders on the terrace of her house in Portugal, and I love them so much. So last year I bought one for our garden in England. It didn't survive the British winter :-( Yours are wonderful though and such a pretty colour.
