The final stretch

I'm a morning walker.
Every morning I get up, have one cup of coffee, put on my walking shoes and head out the door. I walk 1.5 miles in 25 minutes every morning. It's 25 minutes at the beginning of each day of quiet, all-to-myself-time.

Yesterday I took my camera with me to take some pictures that will be used in a project I'm working on. You see, my blog friend Mel is organizing a group project based on the class called All About Me from Big Picture Scrapbooking. As I began to think about the things I'll use in my little book, I knew my morning walk would have to be part of it.

I set up the self-timer and took this picture before I left the house of my well-worn walking shoes and un-tanned legs.
(Kind of a weird picture, but I'm gonna' use it for my book anyway,
so I'm going out on a limb and using it in this post as well...
I figure 20 years from now I'll wish my legs looked like this!)
.
Then, as the walk progressed, I didn't slow down and take as many pictures as I thought I would. Finally, toward the end of my walk I snapped this photo:
The final stretch of my walk.
The "darn-my-walk-is-almost-over" stretch.
The "my-house-is-just-around-the-corner" block.

How lucky am I to have this beautiful setting to walk in every morning? Very lucky right now...but things are heating up in the desert. Soon it will be really hot at this time of day, and things won't be so green and colorful...

But for now, I'll enjoy this final stretch of spring.

Your legs are looking good, Deb! Perhaps I should take up walking after all.... Though I don't have quite the same local environment! Can't wait to see your project xx

Great walk! Wish I was there this morning--I'd be right there with you! Wonder if I'll be able to get up early next week and meet you??? I love my mall walk but would prefer your neighborhood.

You should have no complaints about your legs! I'd trade you in a heartbeat! xo

It looks like you live in a very pretty place. And as for your legs, they look pretty okay to me ... there's no way I'm showing you the state of mine currently!!! They are safely hidden away under jeans & socks!

I'm suffering 'leg envy' here, maybe I need to introduce a morning walk to get some tone back. Maybe you could come and knock for me on your way out tomorrow ....

Definate leg envy here....not t mention the beautiful surroundings you have to walk in.

What a great morning ritual. I just bought some new shoes, and I should definitely start putting them to use.

That sounds like a perfect morning ritual..much better than my current routine of having a cup of coffee and then turning on my laptop! You have inspired me to think about changing that. And your legs are looking good to me!

Oh my! So sunny where you are - no wonder morning walks seem so appealing. Thankfully, the sun came out this evening and my hard slog in the gym was rewarded with a beautiful walk home in the sunshine.

Maybe my legs will be as shapely as yours soon? :)

You are so energetic, Deb! That's awesome that you are so motivated every morning to walk. And, my, my..what a lovely neighborhood! I really need to get on the ball with working out this week. Maybe this post is just the inspiration I needed to get my tail movin'. Hehe. :)~

You are right! A morning walk is a great idea... now I need to get myself organised and do the same! I have "been meaning to" for ages... I will try to use you as inspiration!
Your legs look pretty okay to me - much better than my own.. another incentive for me!
I was thinking, as I read your post, how lovely your area is and how lucky you are to live there... then I read about it being all dry soon because it's the desert (forgot that bit!). I think I'm happier with my little bit of England after all.
Happy Walking!

I used to be a morning walker but have not since my boy started school - I think I need to get back into the habit as it is so hard to find the time to exercise at any other time of the day.

Beautiful neighborhood and nice legs Deb! I feel like we're still waiting for spring. Very strange weather here - hot then cold then one day of hot, then days of cold and rain ... sigh ... Someone started a FB page - NY the only state where you can get all 4 seasons in one week.
