Patterned Paper Border - Class Prompt/Assignment

Oooh! I'm having so much fun taking Shimelle's class "Something from {Almost} Nothing." I love being pointed in the right direction and then turned loose to create something from stuff I already have on hand!

Last Friday's prompt was to create a page using silly/happy pictures of yourself and creating a border or frame using patterned paper.

In the spirit of using what I already had on hand, I picked up some scraps (Cosmo Cricket, "Material Girl") left over from the little book I made last weekend, still lingering on my work table.

Hands down, my favorite punch right now is this butterfly (from Martha Stewart). And I finally used the polka dot border punch I've had in my drawer forever (I think its EK Success brand?) along the edge of the red cardstock.

My journaling strips are made with strips of paper I cut and ran through my label maker. Then I use an emery board or sandpaper to bring out the white letters.

Goofy pictures of me courtesy of Carrie - taken last November in our backyard.

I can't wait to see what our next assignment will be!

Great job with the punches! I think the patterned paper class was actually a use-your-punch class in disguise!
Oh, I love the layout - I commented at Shimelle's forum on that already.

Great layout! One thing I have learnt from this class already is how much 'stuff' I don't have that I need! Like butterfly punches and patterned edge punches ;-) I've never seen an edge punch like this, I've only seen frilly, fancy ones, yours looks quirky and fun!

What a fun layout and I love the photos of you - I hate having my photo taken and then don't like any that are taken. I love that yours have a playful feel to them and the border accentuates that. I really like it!! :)
