Christmas Weekend Recap

Greetings, dear blog friends! Thanks so much for your well wishes. My shoulder surgery went well and I am recovering nicely. I'm getting better at doing things with my left hand, but have safely determined that I am definitely not ambidextrous! Doug has been a huge help, and I'm sure he'll be just as glad as I am when my arm is out of this sling {another 5 weeks...ugh!}.

We had such a great time with family on Saturday - we do Christmas Eve and a gift exchange with Doug's family. Christmas day finds Doug and I on our own {Carrie goes to her dad's that day} and we really took it easy this year. We had my mom's annual pumpkin bread for breakfast, and drank coffee from our cool new coffee cups from my sweet SIL {Meta}. Then we spent the afternoon on the couch watching John Wayne movies.

Doug cooked a prime rib roast and we kept things simple. It was awesome that way.

Taking photos is not so easy for me at this time. Typing with my left hand is slow and not-so-accurate. I've been reading blogs here and there and leaving comments as I can. It seems to take me forever to get the message across! I just wanted to do a quick post to send my love and gratitude for your friendship and kindness.

I hope each of you had an amazing Christmas!
I'll be seeing you around...

Glad to hear your surgery went well! But six weeks in a sling??? UGH! Hoping you heal really fast and can ditch that bit of trouble early.

Oh Deb - 5 weeks! I'm sure you'll be in total craft withdrawal by then. We had a wonderful Christmas and head back home early tomorrow.
Take care and keep in touch (when you can). Nice job on the candle picture.

Pleased to hear that you had a good time and that the surgery went well. Bet you are already ticking off the days to removing that sling! There will be some serious photography/blogging/crafting going on after that!

"Who says blog friends aren’t “real” friends!? I love you guys like you’re my own family."

Deb, you are such a sweetheart. So many times this month I wished you lived nearby. I kept thinking about your recent unemployment and your consistent crafty output and I thought "I know JUST what she can do! Make our cookies! Help the boys with some projects! Make the Christmas tree skirt I've been meaning to make for years!" (nice huh? It could be worse...I could be thinking "she could do my dishes!" right? ;) )

And then I read about your surgery and sadly, my first thought was "she can't help with my crafting after all" which sort of ridiculous because of course you can't! You live SOOO far away! But also *completely selfish*!!! You had SURGERY! oh MAN! terrible.

Well, my friend, I am very, very relieved to hear that your surgery went well. I am GLAD (and jealous!) to hear about your quiet Christmas. I hope that your recovery is smooth and peaceful and with a delightful absence of pain. I hope that you are weathering unemployment well...and that if you are not, that you have loving, listening ears to confide in...and I am so, so grateful for this warm site and your warm presence, Deb. I'm still so, so surprised how transcendent your kindness is...that even do far away and with so little contact with you...it's still as plain as day to me.

Oh my, surgery at Christmas??? :( But at least it will all be worth it in the end. Just make sure to be faithful to the physical therapy they give you.
I loved scrolling back to see all the amazing things you've been up to, Deb. The kitchen cupboards, your incredible cardboard Rudolph!!!, your Santa beard, all the little books, wrappings and goodies. No wonder you needed surgery. Ha!
Blessings and well wishes sent your way today Deb!!
