Thought I'd take a break from Christmas posting and give you a tour of our kitchen.
:o) ♥
Before: Here's what the kitchen looked like back in August - the first time we looked at the house with our realtor {too bad the photo doesn't reflect all the grossness of this room...or does it...}:
During: We'll eventually replace the cabinets and counter tops, but for now Doug did a lot of painting and making them look good...
After: :o)
And here are some before, during, and after shots taken from the other end of the room:
Before: {first time we looked at the house...}
During:
Here's a list of what went down:
- popcorn/acoustic ceiling in dining area removed
- all walls retextured and painted
- new base boards
- linoleum floor replaced with ceramic tile
- cabinets painted
- fluorescent light fixture replaced with can lights
- ceiling fan/light fixture in dining area replaced
- new blinds
- new door for pantry {forgot to photograph that}
- incorporated some antlers into the decor :o)

I still need to figure out some window treatments,
but for the time being I think we'll just let it ride.
What do you think?
Wanna' come over for a spot of tea?

Oh yes, I'd love to come over for a spot of tea! It looks great Deb. And those sunflowers add such a bright spot - my favorite flowers! Enjoy!!
Yes please :)
I've done up a lot of houses over the past few years - and I can appreciate the vision it can take to turn something round like this. I think you have done a wonderful job and if you lived round the corner I would certainly be asking for advice with my projects :) It's beautiful
I'd certainly be coming round for tea if I lived nearer [maybe one day]....you've both done a beautiful job on it.
It's beautiful< Deb and isn't it wonderful to be married to man that can do the work?! Of course your decorating is what really sets it apart.
If only that were possible! I love the way you have brought sunshine into that house and made it a home. Especially loving those sunflowers.
Would love to be popping round for tea! Isn't it amazing how a coat of paint can transform kitchen cupboards? It looks fab Deb, and I still haven't decided on window treatments after almost three years!!

I'll just duck over ... what can I bring? ;-)
You have both done a tremendous job, the place has really been transformed with a light an airy update - it looks fantastic!
I am still in awe at how quick you did it too!
I'll be round to join the others! Doug has done sucha great job!
What a transformation! You've made it look light and airy with the white painted cupboards. Beautiful:)
It looks like Santa and Mrs Claus dropped in for tea!
what a difference some white paint (expertly applied) makes. Love all the sunflowers.
I'll bring some mincepieces to have with the tea !!
What a great job. I like all the windows to bring in natural light. I would love to come over for a cup of tea.
This looks awesome Deb! And those roosters just make me smile.

What a lovely job Doug has made. David seems to have lost momentum at the moment so work on our house has ground to a halt :o(
Yes! Be over soon!
I'd love to come visit for a cup of tea! And you know I love your kitchen since my new one is white as well! I'm truly amazed at all you and Doug have accomplished since you moved in. It took us 15 years (truly) to work ourselves through this house---and 27 years to get to the kitchen!
I do think those are the very same cabinets we had in our "before" kitchen! Most eventually made it to the trash, but a bank of lower cabinets got painted and now serve as office storage! Isn't it amazing what a coat of paint can do???
Beautiful!!!!
Love the white cabinets and the black table!!!!
Excellent work team ;)

It's gorgeous. Love the wall color.
