"Make sweets this weekend." Check!

This past weekend was full and productive. I finished my shopping and wrapping and gave a few gifts to friends I wouldn't be seeing again until after Christmas. It feels good to be done with the gift gathering, and even better to be in the giving-the-gift-stage!!! Sunday I spent the day in my kitchen.
.
First I made these delicious eggnog cupcakes from a recipe that Sharyn posted last week. Oh.My.Good.Ness. SOOOO yummy!!!
.
And I made these Peanut Butter Cup Cookies for the second year in a row. LOVE these!

We had a little visitor hanging out with us for the afternoon ~ our sweet friend Molly. She helped put M&M's on top of our annual pretzel treats. And when Molly wasn't helping Carrie and I in the kitchen, she had her own paper crafts happening close by...

I made a different version of the pretzel treats using a Rolo on top of each pretzel square, popped into the oven for 3 minutes, then squished them down with an M&M on top. With the caramel inside these are yummy little turtle pretzels.

I wanted to make a s'mores mix of sorts and I had an idea to use Teddy Graham cookies - thought they would be so cute. I mixed the little cookies with marshmallows then drizzled melted chocolate on top. I should have stopped there but instead I tossed the mix, making a mess of the whole thing. You'll have to take my word for it that it tastes much better than it looks. Maybe next time I'll just toss the marshmallows, Teddy Grahams, and chocolate chips together in a bag - no melted chocolate...
.
Finally, I made up little trays to give to a few friends and neighbors.
.
Many thanks to the king of our household for all the taste-testing he did for us.What would we do without you, Doug?

Yay a photo of Doug! Of course he did the Most Important Job of all!
Love the photo of Carrie and Molly in the kitchen and I love your "Turtle Prezels" too.
What about making the "Smores" mix into a kind of Rocky Road by putting it all on baking paper and melting it together in the oven, to get a sort-of slab? Then you could break it into chunks... mmmm...
All those sweeties look sooo good. Can I come to your house for Christmas?

That's a tough job Doug has! It must be hard living in your house lol!! You certainly were very productive over the weekend and it all looks wonderful. I do love your pretzel turtles though - very cute!

Thanks a lot, Sweetie--I gained 5 pounds just reading your post! Such yummy looking treats! You must have been nibbling as you went and were totally on a sugar high to get all that done! Then again, I know how efficient and organized you are so I'll bet it was a snap!! Great job!! xo

Sharyn does have the best recipes, doesn't she!
We call the pretzel, hershey kiss, m&M things "belly buttons" and they are perfect for the littlist ones to make.

What a fabulous slection of goodies. We don't really have eggnog over here, so I've been intrigued by Sharyn's recipe. It sounds like I might like it!

Your Christmas baking looks like a roaring success Deb :)

The question is: did you sleep at all! At least you burned so many calories cooking that you can feel good eating.
