I could not have read this at a better time - I guess it was just meant to be. Thanks for writing such a thought provoking post - it's given me a lot to think about regarding my own childhood and upbringing.

Thanks,
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6882176416659082850.post-21557498902788854362015-09-04T01:19:54.416-07:002015-09-04T01:19:54.416-07:00Wow Deb, that is really inspirational. It's obvious how much that experience shaped you as a person. And your Mom too. Gives me a lot to think about and makes me want to write down some things for myself. I still remember your favorite summer memories post ~ I LOVED that one too! Very hard to put yourself in the role of your Mum until you get older. That old saying 'what doesn't break you makes you stronger' is very true and your Mum's experience of that time made her the woman she was. I'm pleased that you are able to put a different perspective on things now.debs14https://www.blogger.com/profile/14521565769251816528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6882176416659082850.post-12739211923240309572015-09-02T06:36:50.655-07:002015-09-02T06:36:50.655-07:00This is such a great post. My experience is this: I started to scrapbook, I think, because I wanted to explore with my brother and sister, and my own children, the happy parts of our quite sad childhood. Because although big, sad things happened, we also had lots of fun. And I wanted my children to know that. Sometimes a blog reader will say to me "Oh you had such a happy childhood" and depending on my mood that day, I'll think - yes, she's right, or oh, I've gone too far the other way and recast things too much. So, it's a constant retelling, isn't it? Again, great post :)Sianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01764280029794453933noreply@blogger.com
